Who am I?
My name is Sonny, a second-year student at the University of Birmingham studying for a degree in English Literature. In school, I excelled in the humanities field, picking up an A* in English Literature at A-Level, as well as two 8s in both literature and language at GCSE. In terms of recent academic success, I was awarded a high 2:1 for my first year of my degree, placing me within the top 10% of my cohort. I am a keen learner, and plan on using the knowledge I have picked up in both school and university to educate the upcoming generation of students, as well as ignite their love for literature.
My experience:
I have worked with a wide variety of ages, from providing fundamental knowledge of the English language to younger children, to mentoring A-Level students, helping them achieve the best results which they possibly can. I have worked both 1 on 1 and in classrooms, and I am experienced working with a number of abilities from students with a wide range of ambitions. I love teaching, and make it my personal goal to get the best out of those I teach. Over my years of school and university, I have obtained strong knowledge in a wide range of literature from current day authors to the likes of Shakespeare, Milton, Chaucer, and even classics such as Aeschylus’ ‘The Oresteia’ becoming comfortable with many literary styles and forms. I am comfortable tutoring both literature and language, and still possess and a passion for creative writing and comprehension.
